Bench Notes: January 2021

Keeping you up to date on the latest happenings at The Guitar Rescue!

It's a new year, and January is already drawing to a close. Here at The Guitar Rescue, the bench has been busier than ever - the repair workload has increased significantly since the relocation to our newest location in Hamilton, NJ which has resulted in a change in general turn-around times.

In the past it was easy to offer a standard 24-hour turn-around time for setups and other smaller jobs. Given the recent influx of incoming repairs, the queue has increased significantly (typical customer drop-offs now average 20+ per week). Along with the larger work load is the built-in requirement for scheduling a 24-hour in advance appointment to pick-up any completed work. Due to these factors, a standard turn-around is now closer to 48-hours for any given repair.

Additionally, appointments are not always flexible. Re-scheduling an appointment should only be done under the most necessary circumstances. I fully understand the desire to have your guitar back into your hands, but scheduling appointments and adhering to all of the protocols involved in the process allows the shop to keep the work flowing in an orderly manner and not prevent other work from being completed. It's also important to note that since there is no general waiting area inside of the new facility appointments help keep us all adhere to social distancing and safe operating practices.

To help with the influx of work, we're happy to announce that additional personnel will be coming on-board to assist with the scheduling and processing of incoming and outgoing repairs at the shop. Having a dedicated individual to handle these tasks will help the repairs continue to flow efficiently and without the backups that have currently manifested. But please note that only I (Mike Virok) will be performing any and all repairs on the instruments dropped off.

Lastly, the online shop will be revamped in the coming weeks and we will begin offering more products for online sales (such as pickups, parts, and some completed builds).
